Gorham Recreation is partnering with Dance Studio of Maine, and providing three different types of tumbling class for 2-4 year old kids. The instructor, Betsy Nygren, will be teaching kids about balance, rolling, coordination, and how to move their little bodies! Here is a description of both options:
Little Monkeys: Ages 3-4
Warm up: marches, jumps, shaking out our muscles
Stretching: arms, wrists, legs, backs
Mats: snake crawls, crayon rolls, seal walks, crab walks, mouse crawls, bear walks, frog hops, bunny hops, monkey swings, forward rolls, alligator leaps, ice skater slides, tightrope walks, hop on one leg, walking backwards
Cool down: “follow the leader” walking on tip toes, marches, skips, kicks, airplanes
Extra activity: Freeze dance
Little Movers: Ages 2-3 with parent
Warm up: “shake your sillies out”, movement circle: marches, tip toe walks, airplanes, turns
Stretching: arms, legs, backs
Mats: crayon rolls, frog jumps, bunny hops, jump on one leg, tunnel
Stations: hula hoops, wedge mat, stacked mats, leaps
Other activities: parachute, pom poms, loud and quiet game
Extra activity: hula hoop dance
Fairy Ballerinas: Ages 3-4
Betsy Nygren will also be teaching this beginner ballet movement class
Class will focus on FUN, interactive movements, and basic ballet concepts for the kids
