Sports Program Instructors-CDC Compliant Small Group Sport Activities

This position is responsible for in-person leadership and instruction of various youth sport programs to include soccer, basketball, softball, baseball.  All youth sport program instructors will have knowledge of and skill in the particular sport being offered and be able to break the components of the sport down into instructional segments that identify and practice skill development.  Activity will include skill building games, relays, individual skill sessions, putting together the stages of the sport to develop the players’ foundation for success. Work hours are variable (4-20 hours a week) and generally occur Monday through Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings and afternoons at different sports fields throughout the Town.

 Before and After the Bell staff
Duties include providing a safe environment for children to have fun and be active, managing children’s behavior in an appropriate manner. Prior experience working with children required.

The hours of the position are normally 7 am – 9 am and/or 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm, Monday-Friday, 10 -29 hours a week. The work schedule may change based on the needs of the program and activities.

Sports Program Supervisors
This position is responsible for general oversight of the Department’s sports leagues and programs. Acts as a visible representative of the Gorham Recreation Department and provides for a clean, safe, and secure environment. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Youth & Adult Programs Director. Work hours are variable (4-20 hours a week) and generally occur Monday through Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings and afternoons at different sports fields throughout the Town.

Fields Maintenance/Grounds laborers
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Grounds & Maintenance Manager. This position is responsible working on all aspects of athletic fields and parks maintenance.  This is to include, but not limited to, maintenance of all the parks, fields, landscaped areas, gymnasiums, restrooms and assorted equipment under the direction of the Recreation Department.  The individual in this position will also assist where warranted in programs, special events and activities.  Work also includes the responsibility to perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks incidental to the operation of assigned equipment and to lift heavy objects.
