Red Cross Babysitting

This course is ideal for current and future babysitters-teaching them the best ways to be safe and to keep children in their care safe. In a fun, interactive environment, participants will learn the responsibilities and qualities of being a good babysitter.

This course focuses on injury prevention, first aid, basic childcare, decision making, problem solving and leadership skills.

This course was developed by the American Red Cross and is supported by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., Boy Scouts of American, YMCA of the U.S.A., and the Boys and Girls Clubs.

Babysitting Basics is also excellent training for young people ages 11-15 years old who find themselves home alone or with younger siblings at the end of the school day.

Participants will learn to:
Supervise children
Diaper and dress infants
Prevent accidents
Select safe toys and games
Handle an emergency or illness
Play with children of different ages
Feed babies and prepare simple foods for children
